Osage girls finish second at Battle of Waterloo, boys wrestling competition today & tomorrow

WATERLOO — The Dan Gable Museum Battle of Waterloo got underway with the girls portion of the wrestling tournament on Thursday, with the boys starting today:

== Osage finished second in the girls competition. The Green Devils beat Cedar Rapids Xavier 78-6, Lake Mills 53-30, and Decorah 43-36 to win Bracket B. In the championship pool, Osage dropped a 60-20 decision to champion Cedar Falls, but beat East Buchanan 45-36 to finish in second place. 

== Mason City finished seventh overall, winning the pool of teams who were third in their opening round bracket. Mason City opened with a 50-30 win over Pleasant Valley, dropped their second-round match to Waverly-Shell Rock 44-30, then beat Vinton-Shellburg 37-29 to finish third in Bracket A. Mason City then in Pool 3 beat Linn-Mar 41-36 and Crestwood 49-30 to win the pool. 

== Lake Mills was second in Pool 4 to finish 11th overall while Charles City was third in that pool to finish 12th. Lake Mills in Bracket B beat Independence 38-32, lost to Osage 53-30 and then lost to Linn-Mar 57-18 to finish fourth in the bracket. Charles City in Bracket C beat Bettendorf 44-33, lost to Cedar Rapids Prairie 60-24 and then lost in the bracket third place match to Crestwood 45-28. In Pool 4, Vinton-Shellsburg beat Lake Mills 46-30 and Charles City 60-24 to win the pool. Lake Mills beat Charles City 48-36 in the other pool match.
