Mason City man indicted on federal gun, drug charges

MASON CITY — A Mason City man has been indicted on federal drug and gun charges.

33-year-old Jacob Shafer has been charged with possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of firearms by a prohibited person.

Shafer was jailed after the execution of a search warrant by the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office and the North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force on October 24th. During the search, authorities say they found stolen property, suspected illegal firearms and methamphetamine.

Shafer at the time had six outstanding warrants as part of a gun and drug investigation.
