Schickel to deliver “State of the City” address tonight at Mason City council meeting

MASON CITY — Mayor Bill Schickel will give the annual “State of the City” report as part of tonight’s meeting of the City Council in Mason City. By city code, the mayor is required to report to the council and the city about the municipal affairs of the city and recommend the adoption of measures that he sees advisable. Schickel will give his annual “State of the City” address at the City Council meeting tonight at 7 o’clock in the Mason City Room of the Public Library. You can also watch the meeting online by heading to masoncity.net.
== A reminder that we’ll be taking our “Ask the Mayor” podcast recording session with Mayor Schickel to Jitter’s in downtown Mason City on Wednesday morning at 9:00 AM. You are welcome to join us for the recording session and ask your questions.
=== The council tonight will also hold a public hearing and consider the first reading of a zoning change for a box retail development in the northwestern part of town. Indianhead Farms Incorporated is asking for the zoning change of their property at 1300 12th Northwest from Restricted Industry to Multi-Use. Indianhead Farms proposes selling the property for the development of a medium box commercial building with accessory parking and onsite storm water detention. The land across the street, occupied by a Casey’s convenience store, is currently zoned Multi-Use.
