Cerro Gordo supervisors moving forward with zoning code update

MASON CITY — The Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors this week moved forward with one of the first steps in the process of rewriting the county’s zoning code. The code is long overdue for an update to today’s standards, having last been done in 1990.

The supervisors this week reviewed a draft “request for proposals” for companies wanting to do the rewrite work. The county’s chief administrative officer Tom Meyer says the zoning rewrite is in the budget for the current fiscal year.  “So the process is we would send this out to anybody who may be able to perform these duties and get proposals back. The RFP committee would be myself, assistant zoning administrator Michelle Rush, county engineer Brandon Billings and county assessor Dana Naumann. Once we get proposals, we will hold interviews so to speak, and then we’ll pick somebody to make a recommendation to the board of supervisors to hire for that.”

The supervisors had no objections to moving ahead with the RFP process.
