Kanawha man receives suspended sentences on drug charges

GARNER — It’s suspended prison sentences for a Kanawha man who pleaded guilty to multiple drug charges.
35-year-old Frank Robbins was originally charged with intent to manufacture & deliver drugs, a Class B felony; two counts of possession of a controlled substance third or subsequent offense, each Class D felonies; and driving while barred for being an habitual offender, an aggravated misdemeanor after a traffic stop on August 20th on 120th Street outside of Kanawha.
A criminal complaint states that during the traffic stop, a K9 unit checked the vehicle with the drug dog having a positive alert. A clear baggie was found next to the driver’s seat with over an ounce of a substance later to be found as methamphetamine.
Robbins as part of a plea agreement in November pleaded guilty to intent to manufacture or deliver methamphetamine over five grams but under five kilograms, a Class C felony, with the driving while barred and possession of a controlled substance charges being dismissed.
District Judge Blake Norman on Tuesday sentenced Robbins to ten years on the intent to manufacture or deliver charge, five years on the possession of meth charge, and five years on the drug tax stamp charge, with all the sentences being suspended and Robbins being placed on probation.
