Mason City man accused of racking up $2,000 on stolen credit cards, fighting officers during arrest

MASON CITY — A Mason City man is in jail after being accused of using stolen credit cards as well as fighting with officers when they tried to arrest him.
A criminal complaint states that 30-year-old Blake Harrer knowingly used stolen credit cards on multiple occasions at a local grocery store between December 1st and January 8th for a total amount of over $2000.
The complaint also states that when officers attempted to execute a search warrant at his residence that he physically fought and resisted uniformed officers, causing serious injury to an officer that required medical treatment.
Harrer has been charged with: ongoing criminal conduct, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison; as well as the Class D felonies of unauthorized use of a credit card under $10,000 and interference with official acts inflicting serious injury.
Harrer is in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on a total of $30,000 bond. A date for his preliminary hearing at last check of court records had not been set.
