Clear Lake council sets date to consider development agreement with Lake Pin & Play

CLEAR LAKE — The Clear Lake City Council this week set the date for considering a development agreement with the developers of a new bowling alley in the Surf District.

Lake Pin and Play at 514 Buddy Holly Place will feature six lanes of bowling, all-sports simulators, as well as an arcade and a full service bar and grill.

Acting City Administrator Jacob Widman says the proposed development agreement includes a tax rebate and other financial assistance to redevelop the property.   “As far as cost goes, we’re looking at doing a $250,000 tax rebate over seven years. We’ll do a forgivable loan of $350,000, and then a signage grant up to $10,000. So, total new debt added through the project will be $610,000.”

Co-owner Nick Plagge says they are continuing to work towards opening the facility in the near future.  “So we’re still hoping for that end of January soft opening at least, probably, but it’s kind of a moving target. Once we get everything in place, some employee training, and just figuring out all the loose ends of it, but we’re making progress.”

The council will consider the development agreement at their January 20th meeting.
