Mason City man jailed after violent break-in

MASON CITY — A Mason City man is in jail after being accused of violently breaking into a home.

A criminal complaint states that 31-year-old Logan Harris kicked down a door and entered a residence in the 300 block of East State Street on Wednesday. The complaint states that Harris hit an occupant of the residence with a bat, causing a head injury, and that he caused property damage and took property belonging to the victim. Harris also allegedly prevented the victim from communicating with emergency services by breaking the victim’s phone.

Harris was charged with first-degree burglary, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison, as well as third-degree criminal mischief, an aggravated misdemeanor.

Harris is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on a total of $27,000 cash-only bond. He’s due in court for his preliminary hearing this coming Friday.
