NIACC men’s wrestling win, women fall at Ellsworth

IOWA FALLS – The No. 11 NIACC men’s wrestling team cruised to a 50-6 ICCAC dual meet victory over Ellsworth on Wednesday night.
NIACC picked up falls from Case Monat (141), Cordell White (149) and Xander Kenworthy (285). The Trojans also gained technical falls from Luis Acevedo (125) and Jessey Colas (184).
Monat (5-4) pinned Ellsworth’s Richard Barillas in 50 seconds to pick up his first dual meet victory and second fall of the season.
White, who is ranked second, pinned the Panthers’ Caiden Rentz in 3:47. White improved his season record to 11-2 with five falls and his career mark to 26-6 with 15 falls.
Kenworthy, who has won eight straight matches, stuck the Panthers’ Aiden McFadden in 6:31. Kenworthy (13-8 with 6 falls) has a career record of 30-21 with 17 falls.
Acevedo (6-2) gained a 18-3 technical fall win over the Panthers’ Nick Needham.
Colas, who is ranked fourth, picked up a 19-4 technical fall over Ellsworth’s Kaleb Homan. Colas moved his season mark to 14-3 and his career record to 30-7.
NIACC returns to action Jan. 23 in an ICCAC dual meet at Iowa Central. Match time in Fort Dodge is slated for 7 p.m.

The Trojans picked up forfeit wins from Keira Suro at 138, Emery Hippen at 180, Destine’e Thomas at 207 and Valerie Smith at 235.
NIACC returns to action Jan. 23 in a dual meet at Iowa Central. Match time in Fort Dodge is slated for 6 p.m.
