Extreme Cold Warning continues until noon today

MASON CITY — Many schools are either delayed or closed this morning as an Extreme Cold Warning remains in effect until noon today.
Dangerously cold wind chills of 30-to-38 below zero are anticipated this morning with west-southwest winds at 10-to-15 miles per hour with gusts as high as 25.
The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go out.
Late tonight the temperature will rise slowly to about 13 degrees by 5:00 AM, with the wind chill being at or just below zero.
