Mason City man jailed after high-speed chase late Sunday night

MASON CITY — A Mason City man has been jailed after leading authorities on a high-speed chase over the weekend.

A criminal complaint says 31-year-old Anthony Long eluded law enforcement by driving speeds over 25 miles per hour or more above the 55 mile per hour speed limit late Sunday night in the northwestern part of the community. Long was previously convicted of eluding law enforcement in 2021.

Long has been charged with: eluding second or subsequent offense, a Class C felony; as well as driving while barred, interference with official acts causing bodily injury, six counts of failing to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way, as well as one count of driving while on the wrong side of a two-way street.

Long is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on a total of $14,000 cash-only bond.
