East-central Iowa man sentenced to 20 years in prison on Worth County sexual abuse charges

NORTHWOOD — It’s 20 years in prison for an east-central Iowa man who pleaded guilty to sexual abuse charges in Worth County.

38-year-old Ellis Allison of Hiawatha was arrested in August and charged with three counts of third-degree sexual abuse after being accused of having sexual relations with a girl under the age of 16 between September 2020 and December 2021 in the Grafton area.

As part of a plea agreement with prosecutors, Allison pleaded guilty to two of the three sexual abuse counts and prosecutors recommended that Allison be sentenced to 10 years in prison on each charge, with the charges being served consecutively.

District Judge Colleen Weiland agreed with that recommendation during a sentencing hearing on Tuesday in Worth County District Court.
