New shared superintendent named for Northwood-Kensett, St. Ansgar school districts

NORTHWOOD — An eastern Iowa elementary education director has been named the new shared superintendent of the Northwood-Kensett and St. Ansgar school districts.

Tony Hiatt currently oversees pre-K through 12 programming for the Pleasant Valley Community School District, a district of about 6000 students. Hiatt has led initiatives at all six elementary schools in the district, earning and sustaining “exceptional” or “high-performing” ratings on the Iowa School Performance Profiles. He also has spearheaded efforts to expand the district’s Teacher Leadership System.

Hiatt holds a master’s degree in educational administration and principalship and an advanced studies certificate in superintendency from the University of Northern Iowa, where he anticipates completing his doctoral degree in 2027.

Hiatt will start his new duties on July 1st, replacing Mike Crozier, who announced earlier this school year he was retiring after serving the district since 2013.
