Burn bans in place in Franklin, Floyd counties

DES MOINES — Due to the recent warmer and dry weather, burn bans are in place in two north-central Iowa counties.
Burn bans were approved by the State Fire Marshal’s Office on Thursday for both Floyd and Franklin counties.
Floyd County Emergency Management Coordinator Jason Webster in a social media post stated that due to the extreme dry vegetation conditions in the county and the number of grass and wildland fires seen this week, the office submitted the burn ban request to the state on Thursday.
Seven other counties in the northeastern quadrant of the state had burn ban requests approved on Thursday — Hardin, Grundy, Bremer, Howard, Winneshiek, Delaware and Dubuque.
