Most of north-central Iowa in moderate drought

DES MOINES — The new Iowa Drought Monitor map shows a majority of north-central Iowa is still in moderate drought.
Just under 80% of the entire state is in some level of drought according to the report released on Thursday, with 57% in the “D-1 Moderate Drought” level.
In our listening area, all but the northern third of Mitchell County and northeastern Worth County are listed in moderate drought, with those areas being in the “D-0 Abnormally Dry” level.
The 20% of the state that’s not seeing drought conditions is in the south-central section of the state.
