Mason City man pleads not guilty to burglary

MASON CITY — A Mason City man accused of violently breaking into a home has pleaded not guilty.
A criminal complaint accuses 31-year-old Logan Harris of kicking down a door and entering a residence in the 300 block of East State Street on January 8th. The complaint states that Harris hit an occupant of the residence with a bat, causing a head injury, and that he caused property damage and took property belonging to the victim. Harris also allegedly prevented the victim from communicating with emergency services by breaking the victim’s phone.
Harris was charged with first-degree burglary, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison, as well as third-degree criminal mischief, an aggravated misdemeanor. Harris on Monday filed a plea of not guilty to the charges in Cerro Gordo County District Court.
His trial has been set to start on April 1st.
