Hinson among Iowa dignitaries at White House as Trump signs executive order banning transgender athletes from women’s sports

WASHINGTON — North-central Iowa congresswoman Ashley Hinson was among four Iowa elected officials who were at the White House on Wednesday watching President Donald Trump sign an executive order banning transgender athletes from women’s and girls’ sports.

Hinson recorded a video as she left the event.

Hinson was joined by Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds and Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird at the event, which was held on National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Reynolds three years ago signed a bill into law that says only those with female listed on their birth certificate may participate in girls sporting events sponsored by Iowa schools.
