Hinson addresses small business regulations

WASHINGTON — North-central Iowa congresswoman Ashley Hinson voted earlier this week on a bill that protects small businesses and is urging her colleagues to take the next step in removing what she says are burdensome regulations.

Hinson voted in favor of the Protect Small Business from Excessive Paperwork Act, saying that without action, many small business owners would face fines of $500 per day or even jail time, which she says is completely absurd.  “Last year, I asked then Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen  how the previous administration plans to help over 32 million small business owners comply with these burdensome, overreaching ownership requirements. To no one’s surprise, she had no answer to offer any clarity to the American people. So, this means I voted in favor of this bill to give our main street community a reprieve from these insane ownership paperwork requirements.”

Hinson is co-sponsoring the Repealing Big Brother Overreach Act, which she says would repeal the Corporate Transparency Act and eliminate burdensome mandates that are harming small businesses.  “I’ve supported legislative efforts to protect small businesses from the poor rollout of these requirements both on the House floor and through financial services and general government appropriation. I believe we should pass the Repealing Big Brother Overreach Act  to provide small business owners will long-term certainty, and I will continue fighting to get this bill across the finish line and  eliminate these onerous mandates.”

Hinson says over 32 million small businesses will be affected by the current reporting requirements and many do not know that they will need to comply.
