District wrestling tournaments held Saturday, setting up this week’s state tournament

CLEAR LAKE — Clear Lake has qualified four wrestlers for this week’s boys state wrestling tournament from the Class 2A district meet in Clear Lake. Aiden Hippen at 150, Christian Dunning at 175 and Aaron Richtsmeier at 285 all won district titles, while Raif Baack finished second at 165. Hampton-Dumont-CAL won the team title with 186 points and six state qualifiers. Garner-Hayfield-Ventura qualified two wrestlers with Lucas Kral winning at 157 and Parker Moritz finishing second at 190.
OSAGE — Osage won the team title at the 1A district meet they hosted on Saturday. The Green Devils had 243 ½ points and nine state qualifiers, easily distancing themselves from second-place Central Springs, who had 170 points and seven qualifiers. West Hancock finished fourth with five state qualifiers while Northwood-Kensett had one qualifier.
EMMETSBURG — Lake Mills won the Class 1A district championship at Emmetsburg on Saturday. The Bulldogs had 198 ½ team points and had four champions and two others finish second.
MASON CITY — Neither Mason City High School nor Newman Catholic had a wrestler qualify for this week’s state tournament. At the Class 1A district tournament in Denver, the Knights had Daniel Spooner finished 4th at 126 and Urijah Paulsen finish 4th at 157. Mason City High meanwhile did not have any of their ten wrestlers place in the Class 3A district tournament at Waverly
