MASON CITY — A Mason City man who was arrested after a high speed chase last month has pleaded guilty in the case.

31-year-old Anthony Long was accused of eluding law enforcement by driving speeds over 25 miles per hour or more above the 55 mile per hour speed limit on January 19th in the northwestern part of Mason City. Long was previously convicted of eluding law enforcement in 2021.

Long was charged with: eluding second or subsequent offense, a Class C felony; as well as driving while barred and interference with official acts causing bodily injury.

Long was due in court for his arraignment hearing today, but as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors, he pleaded guilty last week to the Class D felony of eluding and to interference with official acts causing bodily injury. As part of the plea agreement, a joint recommendation is being made that Long be sentenced at a later date to a total of five years in prison.
