Williamsburg former legislator to run for GOP nomination for governor, setting up likely primary against Reynolds
MASON CITY — Former State Representative Brad Sherman says he’ll kickoff his campaign seeking the Republican Party’s 2026 nomination for governor at an event in north-central Iowa this weekend, setting up what could be a contested primary against Governor Kim Reynolds.
The Williamsburg pastor served one term in the Iowa House representing District 91. Sherman is expected to run to the political right of Reynolds.
His campaign says in a news release that Sherman plans to focus his campaign on defending Iowans’ rights against eminent domain abuse, encouraging fiscal responsibility, promoting family values, and “returning government to the foundational principles that made America great”.
Sherman’s campaign launch event is scheduled to take place at 2:00 PM Saturday at the Mason City Municipal Airport
