Mason City man jailed on kidnapping, theft charges

MASON CITY — A Mason City man has been jailed on kidnapping and theft charges.
A criminal complaint states that 51-year-old Jason Robison forced a female victim to drive to a home in rural Mason City at knife point and was physically assaulting the victim. Robison allegedly took possession of the victim’s vehicle and tried to force the victim to stay in the vehicle against her will while threatening to kill her. The victim was able to escape and Robison drove off.
Robison was charged with: third-degree kidnapping, a Class C felony; second-degree theft, a Class D felony; and domestic abuse assault causing injury, a serious misdemeanor.
Robison was arrested on Friday and is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on a total of $16,000 cash-only bond. No date for his preliminary hearing has been set.
