Final building tour prior to Central Springs PPEL vote takes place tonight (VIDEO)

MANLY — The Central Springs Community School District will be hosting their last building tour tonight leading up to the upcoming Physical Plant and Equipment Levy election next week. Residents of the district are being asked to approve a PPEL levy of $1.34 per $1000 of taxable property value blended with an 8% income surtax. School district officials say it will raise the tax rate an estimated 35-cents per $1000.

School Board president Jean Schilling in a social media post says the levy would generate about $600,000 over a ten-year period and be used for a number of infrastructure projects.  “Those funds would be restricted in our Physical Plant and Equipment Levy fund, and it would be used for different maintenance and for updating the parking lots and structures, as well as boilers on both campuses, finishing air conditioning which helps with the conditions of learning and the security of our schools, and if once funds allow, then expanding and improving our career and tech education programs.”

The last building tour takes place tonight starting at 6:15 PM at the Manly campus at 105 South East Street.  The Central Springs PPEL vote takes place on Tuesday March 4th.
