Clear Lake Community School District names Cedar Rapids middle school principal as new superintendent

CLEAR LAKE — The Clear Lake Community School District has named a middle school principal from Cedar Rapids as their next superintendent.

Ian Dye has more than 20 years of experience in education, including 15 as a school administrator. He currently oversees 1400 students and staff at Prairie Point Middle School in Cedar Rapids and has successfully managed budgets that align resources with strategic goals.

A news release from the school district says Dye has also focused on identifying opportunities for academic growth, retaining and attracting high-quality teachers and staff, and maintaining transparent internal and external communication.

Dye says in a written statement that he was drawn to the Clear Lake job based on a reputation of high achievement, firm community support, and many opportunities for learners, both in academics and extracurricular activities.

Dye begins his new duties on July 1st. Current superintendent Doug Gee announced earlier this school year that he was retiring from the position.
