Albert Lea woman given suspended sentence in Forest City drug case

FOREST CITY — It’s a suspended sentence for an Albert Lea woman arrested in Forest City after being accused of methamphetamine dealing.

A criminal complaint stated that 32-year-old Dawn Bierman was stopped after the driver of the car she was a passenger in ran a red light at the intersection of East J Street and US Highway 69 on December 5th 2023. After being asked to provide her identification, it was discovered that Bierman had an outstanding warrant and she was placed under arrest.

While being searched, Bierman had a marijuana pipe on her. A search warrant was obtained for the vehicle, and during the search, an officer found a baggie with a substance believed to be meth under the passenger seat where Bierman had been seated. A black bag was also found on the passenger floorboard which contained multiple $20 bills rolled together.  The driver of the vehicle when being interviewed later stated that Bierman had been known to deal meth to people she knows.

Bierman was originally charged with the Class B felony of possession with the intent to deliver meth as well as failing to affix a drug tax stamp. As part of a plea deal with prosecutors, she pleaded guilty to the Class C felony of possession with the intent to deliver and failure to affix a drug tax stamp.

As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors recommended suspended prison terms and five years probation, a recommendation District Judge DeDra Schroeder agreed with during a sentencing hearing this week.
