Clear Lake woman pleads not guilty to burglary, kicking a police officer

CLEAR LAKE — A Clear Lake woman has pleaded not guilty to charges of burglary and assaulting a police officer during her arrest.
A criminal complaint states that on the night of February 15th, Clear Lake police were called to a unit at the Green Meadows Mobile Home Park at 2400 South Shore Drive after the report of a burglary in progress. On arrival, police say 36-year-old Jessica Peterson flagged down the officers in front of her unit and allegedly admitted to being the person who was at the unit where the incident took place. The complaint says there was a dispute between Peterson and the people in that unit, with the residents stating she came there two separate times.
The first time, Peterson allegedly pushed and kicked the bottom of the main entry door. The second time, she forced the main door off of the hinges, grabbed one of the two occupants and pulled him down the steps onto the floor of the enclosed porch area, where he says he was kicked in the chin.
When being arrested, police say Peterson was placed into handcuffs but kicked one of the officers in the upper thigh and lower groin.
Peterson has been charged with: second-degree burglary causing bodily injury, a Class C felony; as well as assault on persons in certain occupations with the intent to injure, a Class D felony.
Peterson’s arraignment hearing was scheduled for March 17th, but she filed a written plea of not guilty to the charges on Wednesday. A trial date was not listed in court records.
