Winter Storm Watch in effect for Tuesday evening through Wednesday afternoon

DES MOINES — A winter storm with blizzard conditions is forecast to hit Iowa late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

Our entire listening area is under a Winter Storm Watch from Tuesday evening to Wednesday afternoon. Rain will change to snow from northwest to southeast on Tuesday night, and falling snow combined with very strong winds as high as 55 miles per hour will cause significant visibility reductions with a period of blizzard conditions possible. Snow-covered roads will also make travel hazardous.

Conditions should gradually improve later Wednesday as the snow ends and winds slowly subside.
