Clear Lake boys heading back to state tournament after beating Solon 58-29

CLEAR LAKE — After being tied at 15 with 4:00 to go in the first half, Clear Lake went on a 43-14 run to down Solon 58-29 in the Class 3A Substate 3 championship game last night in Clear Lake, as you heard on 103.7 The Fox and saw on northiowanow.com. Clear Lake qualifies for their sixth trip to the state tournament in the program’s history.

Lions coach Jeremey Ainley says after calling timeout halfway through the second quarter, he told his team to just relax and play a good game. 

 

Clear Lake is the top seed in the Class 3A state tournament field and will face 8th-seed Central DeWitt next Monday evening at 5:30 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. The pre-game show will start at about 5 o’clock on 103.7 The Fox. Central DeWitt won the Substate 5 title with a 59-38 win over Davenport Assumption.
