PPEL votes in Central Springs, St. Ansgar, North Butler school districts today

MANLY — Voters head to the polls in three area school districts today to decide on Physical Plant and Equipment Levy questions:
== Central Springs voters will decide on a PPEL levy of $1.34 per $1000 of taxable property value blended with an 8% income surtax. School officials say it will raise the tax rate an estimated 35-cents per $1000 and generate about $600,000 a year over a ten-year period to be used for a number of infrastructure projects.
== St. Ansgar Community School District voters are being asked to extend the Secure and Advanced Vision for Education fund revenue purpose statement as well as the district’s PPEL. Local districts must adopt a revenue purpose statement to determine how funds from SAVE can be used within their district. St. Ansgar officials say it will go towards infrastructure and technology projects. The PPEL to be renewed is for 67-cents per $1000 assessed value and would generate about $412,400 a year.
== North Butler Community School District voters are being asked to extend the current PPEL levy for another ten years and increase it to $1.34 per $1000. The school district estimates that about $207,000 will be raised each year through the funding.
Physical Plant and Equipment Levies may be used for things like purchasing and improvement of grounds, construction or repair of buildings, or purchasing or leasing equipment and technology. Revenues may not be used for things such as employee salaries or supplies.
