Blizzard Warning remains in effect, TRAVEL NOT ADVISED

MASON CITY — Travel is NOT BEING ADVISED and most if not all schools are closed in our listening area due to the blizzard that has moved into north-central Iowa. There are also scattered power outages around the area this morning.

The Blizzard Warning remains in effect until 3:00 this afternoon. An additional one to three inches of snow is in the forecast, and combined with 50-65 mile per hour winds, will mean that blizzard conditions will continue until the snow gradually ends from west to east by this afternoon. Even then, the strong winds will continue to blow snow around, prolonging difficult travel conditions.

Authorities are saying travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle and do not venture out in trying to find shelter.
