North-central Iowa digs out from blizzard, but more snow on the way

MASON CITY — North-central Iowans continue to dig out after Wednesday’s blizzard hit the area, and now there’s another round of snow in the forecast for late tonight into early tomorrow morning.
Road conditions on the state and federal highways this morning have improved in most of the listening area compared to yesterday, but many spots in north-central Iowa see roads that are partially covered with blowing snow and ice.
State Highway 3 between Interstate 35 and US Highway 69 was listed earlier this morning as completely covered with snow and blowing snow, while travel was not advised south of Eagle Grove on State Highway 17 down to US Highway 20.
Many schools have delayed or cancelled classes because of rural road conditions that are in poor shape still this morning.

Here in the Mason City-Clear Lake area, the National Weather Service forecast says new snow accumulation will be around an inch.
