MASON CITY — The NIACC women’s basketball team tries to qualify for the national junior college tournament this weekend as they travel to North Platte Nebraska to face North Platte Community College in the North Central A District Championship.
NIACC captured the Region 11-B title by beating Ellsworth 72-59 on Monday night, improving their record to 25-6 and winning their first regional championship since the 2020 season, the season they were denied a chance to play in the national tournament due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
North Platte is 19-12 on the season and won the Region 9 title game on March 1st.
The two teams play at 4 o’clock on Saturday.
