Burglary call leads to drug arrest of Mason City man

MASON CITY — A Mason City man is in jail after a late Sunday night burglary call results in drug charges being filed.
A criminal complaint filed by the Mason City Police Department says they were dispatched shortly before 10 o’clock to 18 North Monroe for an active robbery call when an officer approached a man sitting in a vehicle who was later identified as 40-year-old Chase Schumacher.
The officer says they observed the suspect pulling a bag out of his pocket and putting it on the floor of the vehicle, and later willingly admitted that it was drugs. Officers later identified it as crystal meth and a meth pipe.
Officers then searched Schumacher and found a container with needles, a marijuana baggie, a scale, a vape cartridge, a large knife and a large sum of cash.
Schumacher was charged with possession with the intent to manufacture or deliver meth over five grams, a Class B felony, as well as possession of marijuana second offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Schumacher was being held in jail on a total of $1300 bond.
