Clear Lake faces Central DeWitt in Class 3A boys state quarterfinal later today

DES MOINES — The Clear Lake boys basketball team faces Central DeWitt in the Class 3A quarterfinals at the state basketball tournament later today. The Lions are a perfect 24-0, cruising their way through the substate tournament with an average margin of victory of almost 40 points per game. Clear Lake is led by senior Thomas Meyer, who is averaging 16.8 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. Central DeWitt comes in with a 13-11 record and finished 6-11 in the Mississippi Athletic Conference standings. They upset 6th-ranked Waverly-Shell Rock by four points in the substate semifinal round before beating Davenport Assumption 59-38 in the substate championship game last Monday night. They are led by 6-6 senior Ryan Watters and 6-1 senior Max Burgmeier, who each average 15.8 points per game while Watters averages just over nine rebounds per contest.
