Mairead Hahn, 78, formerly of Mason City

Mairead Hahn, 78, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at her home in
Chandler, Arizona. Born in Strabane, Ireland, United Kingdom, on April 26, 1946, Moire
Mairead Livingood was the eldest of six children to Lowell and Annie (Sturrock) Livingood. As
an infant, her family immigrated to the United States on the RMS Queen Elizabeth in 1946,
settling in the small farm town of St. Thomas, North Dakota.

A determined and adventurous spirit, Mairead graduated high school in 1964 and at just 17
years old set off for Washington, D.C., where she completed a federal exam that led to her
employment at the Pentagon. It was there, in an elevator in the E Ring, where she met the love
of her life, Jim Hahn. They moved to Mason City in 1965 and married on February 25, 1967, at
St. Joseph Catholic Church. Together, they worked to grow the family business, Kabrick
Distributing, where Mairead took great pride in watching it expand over the years.

Mairead and Jim raised two children, Michelle and Jason. Her greatest joy in life was her
family. She adored her grandkids and great-grandkids, never missing a game, recital, or special
event. Whether it was cheering from the sidelines, cooking their favorite macaroni, or simply
spending time together, Mairead’s love and pride for her family were endless. She found
immense happiness in their accomplishments and milestones, always their biggest supporter.

She retired from her duties at Kabrick Distributing in 1990, and in retirement she cherished
weekly lunches with friends, word searches, golfing, bird-watching, and tending to her deck full
of flowers and plants. Known for her delicious deviled eggs and home-cooked meals, she found
joy in bringing her family together around the table. In recent years, she traveled extensively to
support her grandson Kobe’s hockey career, and on her final trip visited her childhood village in
Ireland before cheering him on in the Netherlands, Germany, and London— and was already
planning her next adventure.

Mairead’s warmth, devotion, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed, but her
legacy of kindness and support will live on in those she cherished most.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Shane) Blunt and their children, Lindzie Wyborny,
Kobe Roth, Jordan Blunt, Parker Blunt, and Gage Blunt; son, Jason (Penny) Hahn and their
children, JJ Hahn, Jaycee, Rylee, and Bailey Driscoll; great grandchildren, Brody, Charlee,
Navy, Miles, and Jack; sisters, Ann Celine , Calgary, Alberta, Canada and Gemma (Randy)
Karvo, Bismark, North Dakota; as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family and
friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Hahn; parents, Lowell and Annie; in laws, Jack
and Maxine Kabrick; and siblings, Jimmy Livingood, Patrick Livingood, and MaryBeth Boelter.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Friday, March 21, 2025 at Epiphany Parish – St.
Joseph Catholic Church, 305 5th St SE, Mason City.

Visitation will be held at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason City
Thursday, March 20, from 4-7 pm.

Should friends desire, memorials may be left in Mairead’s honor to the Marine Corps Toys for
Tots.
