Blizzard Warning remains in effect as storms move in this morning

MASON CITY — Blizzard conditions are still expected today as storms move in to our listening area this morning. The combination of moderate to heavy snow and strong, gusty winds are forecast to produce blizzard conditions today in the warning area.
Two inch per hour snowfall rates or greater will be possible along with thundersnow. Most areas will see between two to six inches of total snowfall, but there could be a band of six to 12 inches of snow.
Strong and damaging wind gusts up to 65 miles per hour are also expected. Travel will become impossible at times with many roads becoming impassable. Travel should be restricted to emergencies only, but if you must travel, make sure you have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay inside your vehicle.
