Mason City man pleads guilty to sexual abuse

MASON CITY — A Mason City man has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a child.
20-year-old Jackson Oetken was arrested in December on charges of third-degree sexual abuse by force and third-degree sexual abuse of a child victim. Criminal complaints stated that Oetken committed sexual acts with a female under the age of 16 multiple times between October 1st and October 23rd, with one of the instances taking place at his home and another at East Park.
Oetken originally pleaded not guilty to the charges, but recently entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors, pleading guilty to one count of third-degree sexual abuse. Prosecutors in turn will recommend a suspended ten-year prison sentence and five years probation when Oetken is sentenced on March 31st.
