NIACC baseball picks up conference sweep at Southwestern

CRESTON — The NIACC baseball team picked up a conference sweep at Southwestern Community College on Wednesday afternoon in Creston. NIACC topped Southwestern 6-1 in the opener and then only needed eight innings in the nightcap to take a 13-2 victory.

Trevor Hamil picked up the win for the Trojans in the opener, going 5 ⅓ innings, striking out seven and allowing only three hits.

In the nightcap, Lincoln Becker hit two home runs and knocked in three runs while Payton Fort and Jacob Neutz also hit homers. Ethan Loffer picked up the win, going five innings, striking out four and allowing one earned run.

NIACC is 9-17 overall and 2-5 in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference play. The Trojans start a three-game series at Marshalltown Community College on Friday with a doubleheader followed by a single game scheduled for Saturday.
