Clear Lake girls win own North Iowa Indoor Track Championships

CLEAR LAKE — Clear Lake won four events and had runner-up finishes in two others to capture the team title at the North Iowa Indoor Track Championships girls track meet on Thursday at the Clear Lake Athletic and Wellness Center.

Individually, Reese Brownlee won the 400 while Ella Landau won the long jump, while the Lions also picked up wins in the sprint medley and 4×400 relays. Saylor Schmitt finished second in the 800 while the 4×800 squad also was a runner-up.

Clear Lake won the 15-team competition with 96.5 points, Algona was second with 78, while Forest City was third with 77.25 points.

The boys version of the North Iowa Indoor Track Championships will take place at the Clear Lake Athletics and Wellness Center starting at 4 o’clock this afternoon.
