Drought conditions improve in parts of north-central Iowa

DES MOINES — Portions of north-central Iowa saw improvement in drought conditions after last week’s storm passed through the area.

Last week, the majority of north-central Iowa was in the “D-1 Moderate Drought” category, but this week’s Iowa Drought Monitor Report shows the western two-thirds of Cerro Gordo, Worth, and Franklin counties as well as most of Winnebago and all of Hancock and Wright counties are now in the “D-0 Abnormally Dry” level.

Statewide, 79% of the state is at least in the “D-0” category, with 34% in the “D-1” level.
