Cerro Gordo supervisors show support for Clear Lake Chamber CAT grant application

MASON CITY — The Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors this week approved their supporting a state grant application by the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce.
If awarded, the grant through the Iowa Economic Development Authority’s “Community Attractions and Tourism” grant program would be part of the Chamber’s capital campaign for expanding and renovating their facilities.
Supervisor Casey Callanan says part of the CAT grant requirements include a show of financial support from local governments. “They’re going to try to get up to a $100,000 grant towards their new facility, and this would be applied from the county for $10,000 in the event they get the grant. If they do not get the grant, the county is not obligated.”
The project aims to more than double the current Chamber building’s size, providing a new, accessible welcome center, a dedicated event preparation area, and modern meeting spaces.
