NIACC roundup — DeLong women’s golfer of week, softball ranked #16

MASON CITY — NIACC freshman Meghan DeLong has once again won the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference women’s golfer of the week honors. The freshman from Clear Lake earned the honor for the first time during the spring season after taking the honors four times this past fall. DeLong won the Hawkeye Community College Redtail Spring Shootout last week with a 78. The NIACC women’s golf team heads to Fort Dodge on Friday and Saturday for the Iowa Central Invitational.

MASON CITY — The NIACC softball team is ranked 16th in this week’s National Junior College Athletic Association Division II poll. The Trojans dropped one spot after sweeping Iowa Lakes and Northeast Community College in doubleheaders last week but also dropping a doubleheader to 12th-ranked Kirkwood. Other teams ranked in this week’s poll are DMACC at #7 and Iowa Central at #17. St. Johns River State College of Florida is the top-ranked team while Murray State College of Oklahoma is ranked second. NIACC hosts DMACC later this afternoon in their home opener.
