Nine US Cellular employees in Mason City to be impacted by layoff announcement

MASON CITY — The announcement by US Cellular that they are cutting nearly 500 jobs in Iowa will have an impact on about nine employees locally.

US Cellular says they are selling all of their wireless operations to T-Mobile and they plan to lay off about 4100 positions across the country. The company says layoffs will begin on or around June 2nd.

US Cellular says a majority of the affected employees will be offered employment with T-Mobile with similar pay and benefits.

According to the Iowa Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification website, nine employees at US Cellular’s store at 402 Indianhead Drive in Mason City will be impacted by the layoffs.
