CORALVILLE — A Mason City man sent to prison last June after pleading guilty to sexual exploitation charges has died.
47-year-old Maioriko Henrick pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual exploitation by a counselor or therapist after being accused of undressing a resident and performing a sex act on them while working in 2023 at Homestead of Mason City Assisted Living. An investigation showed the victim had a brain injury from a medical problem several years ago.
After pleading guilty, Henrick was ordered to spend five years in prison.
The Iowa Department of Corrections today issued a statement saying Henrick was pronounced dead on Thursday March 27th in a hospice room of the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Coralville.
