Mason City man jailed on burglary charge

MASON CITY — A Mason City man accused of burglary has been arrested.

A criminal complaint filed in Cerro Gordo County District Court accuses 33-year-old Edward Giles Junior of entering a residence in the 200 block of North Madison in the late morning hours of April 6th. Giles allegedly assaulted the occupant of the home, with the victim suffering visible bruising and lacerations to the face. The complaint says there was a protective order in place at the time Giles entered the residence.

Giles was charged with first-degree burglary, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison, as well as domestic abuse assault causing injury, a serious misdemeanor.

Giles was arrested over the weekend in Black Hawk County and was taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail, where he’s being held without bond until he’s seen by a magistrate.
