Mason City City Council holds Fiscal Year 2026 budget hearing tonight

MASON CITY — The City Council in Mason City tonight will hold the public hearing and adopt the Fiscal Year 2026 budget that begins on July 1st of this year.
The city’s finance director Brent Hinson in a memo to the council says the final budget reduces the city’s tax rate slightly to just under $13.98 per $1000 taxable valuation and maintains all fund balances within the city’s adopted financial policies.
The public hearing takes place tonight as part of the council’s meeting starting at 7 o’clock in the Mason City Room of the Public Library.
