UPDATE — Police say body found in Winnebago River Saturday missing teenager

MASON CITY — The Mason City Police Department confirms late this morning that a body found in the Winnebago River in Mason City on Saturday was that of a missing teen.
The department in a news release says they started working on a missing persons case involving 17-year-old Dominic Garrett after he was reported missing by his family on April 4th.
On Saturday, police were called shortly after 2 o’clock to the report of a body in the Winnebago River at East Park. Officers worked with the Mason City Fire Department to remove the body from the river.
The statement says while the formal identification and autopsy are yet to be completed, the preliminary information points to the body being that of Garrett.
Police say foul play is not suspected, and they are continuing their investigation and will work with the State Medical Examiner’s Office as they make a ruling as to the cause and manner of death.
