Clear Lake announces three finalists for city administrator position

CLEAR LAKE — Clear Lake’s acting city administrator as well as the city administrators from Charles City and Hampton have been named as the three finalists to be the City of Clear Lake’s next city administrator. The city announced the finalists on Tuesday afternoon.

Jacob Widman has been the city’s acting administrator since November and has been Clear Lake’s finance director and director of administrative services since late 2023; Steven Diers has been Charles City’s city administrator since 2014; while Ron Dunt has been Hampton’s city administrator for well over a decade.

Prior to the release of the finalists, Mayor Nelson Crabb during Monday night’s city council meeting commended the finalists. “Looking forward, and not easy, but we will get the best to be able to fill that position for this particular city and the folks who live here.”

The city will be hosting a public meet and greet event where residents can meet the candidates, ask questions and share feedback in an effort to engage the community in the final part of the selection process. That will take place on Friday May 2nd from 5:00 to 6:15 PM in the council chambers at City Hall.

Interviews with the finalists will take place the following day, with the council potentially making a decision at their May 5th meeting.
