DeLong, Berger win medalist honors at NIACC Spring Invitational golf tournament

MASON CITY — Meghan DeLong won the NIACC Spring Invitational golf tournament Tuesday afternoon at the Legacy Golf Course at the 19 in Mason City. The freshman from Clear Lake carded a 75 to take the medalist honors. NIACC finished second as a team with a season-best round of 340, while DMACC claimed the team title with a 339.
The NIACC men shared the team title with Hawkeye Community College with each team shooting a 288. Iowa Central was third with a 297. NIACC sophomore Bennett Berger was the medalist with a career best round of 65. Both NIACC teams now prepare for district tournament play.
The women compete in the North Plains District Championships on Monday and Tuesday at Otter Creek in Ankeny. The men travel to the Whispering Creek Golf Course in Sioux City on May 4th through the 6th.
