Stacyville man pleads not guilty to drug charges

STACYVILLE — A Stacyville man has pleaded not guilty to drug charges.

A criminal complaint states that a search warrant was executed at the apartment of 43-year-old Tyler Schafer back on June 12th. Authorities say that illegal narcotics were seized from the residence that were found in an eyeglass case on the floor beside Schafer’s bed. The Division of Criminal Investigation lab says the narcotics were positive for 18.31 grams of methamphetamine. Also seized during the search were multiple pipes used for inhaling illegal controlled substances and multiple packages containing what was later identified as marijuana.

Schafer was previously convicted for possession of marijuana in Cerro Gordo County in 2021.

Schafer was arrested in late March after a warrant was issued on charges of possession of more than five grams but not more than five kilograms of meth, a Class B felony, as well as possession of a controlled substance second offense and failure to affix a drug tax stamp.

Schafer filed a written plea of not guilty on Wednesday in Mitchell County District Court. A trial date at last check of court records was not scheduled.
